Roofing is physical work, and we’re not going to pretend otherwise. You’re up early, you’re on a roof, and by the end of the day you can point at something solid and say you made it better. That’s the job. What makes Mercer Roofing different from a lot of crews is how the work gets done: written prices before anything starts, a photo ID badge at the door, a clean uniform, and a name-and-photo sent to the homeowner before you even pull up. The Threshold Standard isn’t a poster on a break-room wall. It’s how we run every single job, and the people who fit here are the ones who actually want to work that way.
Who We’re Looking For
- Roofing Installer: Someone who can work a full day on a slope, reads a plan, and takes the installation sequence seriously because they understand why it matters.
- Roof Repair Technician: A careful diagnostician who finds the actual source of a leak, not just the spot where water showed up on the ceiling.
- Apprentice / Laborer: A person who shows up ready to work, asks good questions, and wants to build a real trade skill from the ground up.
- Lead Installer / Crew Lead: Someone who has done the work, knows the sequence by feel, and can keep a crew moving and a homeowner informed at the same time.
- Dispatcher / Service Coordinator: Organized under pressure, comfortable on the phone with customers, and good at keeping a moving schedule from falling apart.
- Customer Service Representative: A real person who can answer the phone on the first ring, understands what a homeowner is worried about, and gives a straight answer.
What We Offer
A Real Path, Not Just a Job
We’ve been doing this since 2000, and we know what it takes to go from carrying bundles to running a roof. Apprentices who come in curious and stay consistent move up. We train on real jobs using manufacturer-recognized shingle brands – GAF, CertainTeed, Owens Corning, IKO, Atlas, Tamko, and Boral – so what you learn here is recognized industry-wide, not just inside Mercer.
Work You Can Actually Be Proud Of
The 365-Day Done Right Promise means if something isn’t right within a year, we fix it. That standard pushes the whole crew to do the job correctly the first time – and honestly, most people who care about their craft prefer working somewhere that holds the line. A written guarantee on every repair isn’t a sales line; it’s a commitment that follows the work after you drive away.
Local Crew, National Backing
Every Mercer location is independently owned and operated, so you’re working with a local crew that knows its market. But you’re also backed by the Threshold Group family and the Threshold Verified standard, which means the systems, the training framework, and the brand reputation are already built. You’re not starting from scratch – you’re joining something that works.
Steady Demand
Roofs don’t stop needing attention because the economy slows down. Storms happen, materials age, and homeowners eventually have to deal with what they’ve been putting off. Mercer operates across multiple states with local crews, and the pipeline of repair and installation work is consistent. For the right person, this is not seasonal filler – it’s a career.
No Experience? Read This.
If you’ve done construction labor, landscaping, framing, warehouse work, or anything else that required you to be on time, follow a process, and work carefully with your hands, you have a foundation we can build on. The roofing-specific knowledge – reading a slope, understanding flashings, learning the difference between a three-tab and an architectural shingle – we teach that. What we can’t teach is showing up, staying focused, and caring whether the job is done right.
Your first months at Mercer are spent alongside experienced installers and repair technicians. You’ll work in a Threshold Verified crew from day one, which means you learn the standard while you’re learning the trade. Ask questions. Pay attention to why things are done in a certain order, not just what order to do them in. That curiosity is what separates people who stay in roofing from people who leave it.
